The Mount Vernon Concert Band

**REHEARSALS HAVE RESTARTED!**

The Mount Vernon Concert Band was founded in 1978 and has a history of bringing concert band music to the local community. The band is a volunteer musical ensemble that provides area musicians, including graduating high school students, former military and college musicians, a venue for continuing with their musical interests and performing at a number of community events: Fourth of July picnics, retirement homes, civic associations meetings, local government events, the Mount Vernon Yacht Club annual commissioning of the club and fleet, in schools, libraries and in parks. Concerts include marches, light classics, popular show tunes and overtures, and patriotic selections.

Band members, including the conductor, volunteer their time and represent a wide range of ages, careers and personal interests. The goal of the group is to provide pleasure and service to the community and enjoyment to the members who play music together. The band’s conductor is Linda Davidson. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening, 7:30 – 9:30 PM, at Mount Vernon High School.

In addition to the Concert Band there are five other associated ensembles: the Mount Vernon Swing Band, the Mount Vernon Dixieland Band, Vernonberg am Potomak Volksmusik Blasskapelle (the Mount Vernon German Band), the Mount Vernon Flutes and the MV Brass.
