SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

1. Be active in a Mount Vernon High School music program (1)

2. Be recommended by the head of your music department.

3. Submit a completed application.

4. Submit an essay of two pages in length titled "Music in My Life". (2)

5. Rehearse and perform with the Mount Vernon Community Band. (3)

6. Take a leadership role in a music program. (4)

7. By the date of the award, have applied to/been accepted at an accredited college or university. (5)

1. Defined as at least two of four High School academic years.

2. Specifications as to font, margins, line spacing and required topics are defined on the application form.

3. Defined as at least two rehearsals and a subsequent performance of the rehearsal material.

4. Evaluated and approved by your music department head. Examples are given on the application form.

5. If college entrance will not immediately follow graduation, such a gap must be justified on the application form.

To apply submit a completed application form to the head of your music department.  Each music department has blank application forms.
