For
a quarter century the Mount Vernon Concert Band has been providing
musical entertainment to the Mount Vernon, Northern Virginia and
Greater Washington DC area. The band has played for the opening of
Sherwood Hall Regional Library, Kingstowne Library, and Huntington
Metro Station. The band plays at retirement homes and local parks. The
first Sunday in May, each year, finds us at the Mount Vernon Yacht Club
for the annual Re-Commissioning of the Club and fleet.
We
receive excellent support from the community at large, and from our
families without whose encouragement there would be no band.
The
Concert Band rehearses every Tuesday evening at Mount Vernon High
School band room at 7:30pm. We encourage all that have played an
instrument to come and join us and have some fun and make good music.
The
band is currently looking for players of oboe, bassoon, French horn,
flute, trombone, and clarinet especially. We always have room for more.
The
Concert Band is led by Joe Stynchula.
